Julia Fuller


Julia Fuller is a filmmaker and photographer from Oakland, California with a background in cognitive psychology and theatrical lighting design and an MFA from Temple University. Her work has screened nationally and internationally at festivals and conferences, including Athens International Film and Video Festival, Chicago Underground Film Festival, Fantasia Film Festival, SCINEMA Festival of Science Film, and the Society for Disability Studies Annual Conference. Every Speed, a collaboration with Lindsey Martin, won the Premio Asolo Award for Best Film on Architecture at the Asolo Art Film Festival. Julia has worked extensively in community media and is primarily interested in exploring themes related to health, although she finds inspiration in architecture, food, science, and technology. She recently completed two short experimental documentaries: Illness Magnified about the experience, language, and spaces of illness, and Every Speed about disabled and able-bodied perspectives on movement, transportation, and dependence.
